Cala Millor

ENG:
During the winter months, many places on the tourist island of Mallorca, Spain are almost devoid of people. Out of season this favourite island destination for German tourists has significantly fewer visitors than in the summer months, and in many places hotels and even entire towns are closed.
Cala Millor, or in English ‘the best bay’, is one of the few small towns which is not completely deserted in winter. This is when you will find the permanent tourists, mostly German pensioners, strolling up and down the promenade. Many of the shops and hotels are closed or being renovated, with only the occasional souvenir shop or supermarket opening its doors.
Cala Millor is a pure product of the tourist industry. This seaside resort, which primarily emerged in the 1960s, has the highest concentration of hotels on the island’s eastern coast. As in many parts of Mallorca, most of the hotel resorts are practically indistinguishable from each other.

The photographic essay ‘Cala Millor’ offers a portrait of the Spanish seaside resort in Nov 2010 and Oct 2019.
