Athens 2012

Griechenland. Im Jahr 2012 war das krisengeplagte Griechenland eines der Hauptthemen in der europäischen Außenpolitik sowie auch in den Medien. Sogleich schießen uns Bilder von Demonstrationen und geschlossenen Geschäften in den Sinn. Doch wie sah es vor Ort wirklich aus?
Fernab vom Bild der Medien begab ich mich auf die Suche nach dem Griechenland des alltäglichen Lebens. Auf den Straßen Athens fand ich ein amibivalentes Bild des Landes. In meiner Arbeit zeige ich die Folgen der Krise, aber auch die Hoffnung der Griechen.

Greece. In 2012 the crisis in Greece was one of the main subjects for European foreign affairs and was covered highly in the media. Immediately there are pictures popping up in our minds of demonstrations and closed stores, but how did it actually look?
Far away from the imagery of the media, I went on a search for daily life in Greece. On the streets of Athens, I found an ambivalent image of the country. In my work I show the outcome of the crisis as well as the hope of the Greek.
